Muddassar Arani Update
The Sun Editor, Rebekah Wade has been responding to many of you with a standard reply. It is sad that some Muslims lose hope so quickly and are quick to question the wisdom of supporting sister Muddassar Arani just because they don't know how to address the points raised by Ms Wade. This is indicative of an apologetic and defeatist mentality. These same people probably don't even know how sister Muddassar has tirelessly defended Muslims over the past few years. Visit http://www.cageprisoners.com/interviews.php?aid=254 to appreciate the work she has done.
After having read the press release by Arani & Co., we as Muslims should
not and cannot doubt the words of sister Muddassar just because the editor
of The Sun tries to play with words to cover-up their smear campaign. It
is clear to any rational and fair person that The Sun has demonised sister
Muddassar by making her look like a rich and greedy individual devoid of
moral standards as she defends an "evil", "hate-filled" and "hook-handed"
cleric. Read the following articles to refresh your memory.
Alhamdulillah the Press Complaints Commission has taken up her case and is
currently investigating this matter. We need to be patient and wait for
the PCC's adjudication. We certainly should not feel that responding to
this alert was a waste of time. Forcing the editor of the UK's
bestselling newspaper to compose a special reply due to the sheer volume
of complaints is an achievement in itself and will insha'Allah make them
think twice before they target an innocent Muslim again. Additionally
Rebekah Wade was forced to say the following:
"let me emphasise that The Sun is in no way anti-Muslim. Indeed, in the
dark days after the events of September 11, we published a leading article
expressing our views in very plain terms. The headline said: Islam is not
an evil religion. The article continued in that vain, calling on the
British people not to blame the law-abiding and peaceful Muslim community
for the action of extremists. This remains our position today."
This represents a commitment to the Muslims of this country and as such
The Sun can be taken to task if it falls short.
May Allah reward all those who responded to the alert. Don't forget to
pray for sister Muddassar that she is able to get through these difficult
times.
