The Liberal Democrat MP Dr Jenny Tonge, while addressing a pro-Palestine rally highlighted the plight of the Palestinians and commented that the suicide bombings carried out by some Palestinians were out of desperation as they did not have an alternative.  She said of Palestinian suicide bombers: "If I had to live in that situation - and I say that advisedly - I might just consider becoming one myself."  Her comments caused uproar.

Everyone is surprised at how quickly it all happened. How the news broke on Thursday and Jenny Tonge was sacked by Friday. Many of us are still in a daze but we need to snap out and realize what happened. In the future we Muslims too need to respond with the same vigour as those that got rid of Dr Tonge.

For now we need to acknowledge that Jenny did not use the best of terminology to express her anguish at the suffering of the Palestinian people.  However she still needs to be thanked for her noble sentiments and her efforts to draw attention to the injustices taking place in the occupied territories – something very few have the courage to highlight.

Most of us stay quiet while the Palestinians suffer whereas Jenny has done what we should be doing.  Would you be so ungrateful and not even take 2 minutes out of your time to thank her?

How can one who does not thank others possibly thank Allah?
