Nottingham Employers Urged To Know the Law

06 Jan 2004

Employers across Nottingham are being urged to know the law after a sting operation revealed some shocking instances of discrimination.

The operation conducted by Islamic Affairs Central Network (IACN) targeted various Nottingham employers at random to monitor their recruitment procedures and work environment.

It emerged that in some cases managers simply failed to take any action while their employees were facing harassment owing to their religious identity.

“The results from this operation are shocking.  In most cases we found discrimination against individuals simply because of the ignorance of their employers.  New employment regulations have come into effect from 2nd December 2003 and it is crucial that employers are aware of these regulations,” said Hasan Abdullah, Director of Public Relations of IACN.
