Dear Sir/Madam,

We would like to express our grievance at the Islamophobic comments made by Denis MacShane.  British Muslims have always condemned any atrocities whether perpetuated by individuals, groups or states.

The comments by Mr MacShane only serve to fuel hatred against Muslims in the same way as the Nazi propaganda was used to incite sentiment against the Jews.  The result as we know was a massacre of the innocent.  In the past we have already witnessed attacks on Muslims and mosques and you could be rest assured that MacShane’s comments would only increase such incidents.

The comments by Mr MacShane provide extremists like the BNP and National Front another opportunity to further their toxic agenda against the Muslims.  “I cant wate to Bulldoze the Mosque's! And ban filthy word "ALLAH"” reads a message on the National Front website.

Even more astonishing is the silence of the Labour party over this affair.  Silence is complicity and many Muslims are beginning to feel that Labour is supporting such Islamophobes.

We demand a full, unambiguous, unreserved, public apology from MacShane for his Islamophobic comments.  Failing that, there is only one alternative – his resignation.

Kind regards,

Hasan Abdullah
